Entombed - Clandestine

Beat down riffery rumble wall! Chaotic awesome and some crazy production techniques here and there. Evil rockin' and killer solos and a guitar sound that cuts into your head like an electric carving knife. Raw and huge.

AC/DC - Black Ice

If it ain't broke don't fix it. It is broke though since no song on this album is as good as any of AC/DC top couple dozen. This album even sounds kinda dumbed down if you can believe that. HA! It doesn't suck, well, yeah it does a little. There's 15 songs on here. If they had trimmed it down to 8 or 9 this could have been a relatively strong record.

Fun Facts: There's an eight year gap between this and their previous album Stiff Upper Lip.

Jimi Hendrix - War Heroes

Jimi's getting a bit more funky. I guess because he was dead when they Frankenstiened this together. There's still some incredible smokin' jammin' on here. Guitar jammin' that is. Sounds like Woodstock era Hendrix. Also sounds unfinished probably because of several instrumentals being included.

Fun Facts: Nine "songs" recorded between 1967 and 1970.

Sir Lord Baltimore - Kingdom Come

Extensive 70's rock out AND a singing drummer. I can't say enough about this record. A must have for fans of the rock.

Brainticket - Cottonwood Hill

Wanking progressive psychedelic funkiness. With a girl doing some kind of performance art over the top. Pack this in your bags when you take your next acid trip.

AC/DC - For Those ABout To Rock...

Very similar to Back In Black but not as good.

Edgar Broughton Band - Sing Brother Sing

Trippy, or is it progressive despair? Pink Floyd meets Sabbath in 1970 to puke on Zappas face, while Jim Morrison does a drunken rain dance...It's not as good as that description sounds. Sorry.

Gun - Gun

Smokin' right from the start. Psyche! Dramatic big full sound. Guitar is just ripping things up all over this. Soaring psychedelic sound. I've heard this called "Post psyche proto metal". Has a nice ring to it.

Bang - Bang

Heavy power trio. Leaning towards the dark side. Menacing groovy hippie hard rock.

Blackwater Park - Dirt Box

Killer 70's Heavy rock. Like Uriah Heep, Free, Grand Funk, Cream, Deep Purple(Hammond). Killer guitar all the time. Blues rock where the blues is starting to get left behind. It gets all psychedelic heavy jam rock out too.

Fun Facts: These guys are from Germany and have an English singer.

Megadeth - Peace Sells...

I'm not really a Megadeth fan, but I sure do like this one. It's got the gallop thing going on. Head banging groove action. See you in the pit. Awesome songs that don't get boring. Lots of shredding, but they never over do it. They retain the groove throughout. 1986 was a big year for thrash.

AC/DC - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap

Recorded in 1976, released in America in 1981 after the success of Back In Black. A couple great songs a bunch of good ones. It all sounds like AC/DC. A good record, but probably not even in my AC/DC top 5.

Vinnie Vincent Invasion - Invasion

An anxious attempt at pop hair metal with over the top solos jammed in anywhere there's space. A little too abrasive for the MTV crowd, but trying hard.

Cathedral - (Hopkins) The Witchfinder General

An odd eclectic bunch of songs that's sure to confuse and anger metal purist and teenagers alike. A novelty metal EP that's over quickly.

Cheap Trick - Lap Of Luxury

1988
Cheap Trick is my favorite band and this is them at their worst and most popular. Was the success of this album a surprise? What came before this? Not their very worst, but way down there.

Armored Saint - March Of The Saint

More like Iron Maiden than Metallica. More like early Def Leppard than Slayer.

Yngie J. Malmsteen - Rising Force

1984
Classical fantasy guitar wanking with keyboards and occasional vocals.

Rainbow - Rising

1976
This is a cooker. Dio/Blackmore.

Atomic Rooster - Death Walks Behind You

1970
Deep Purple maybe.

Ancient Grease - Women And Children First

Dirty bluesy rock. They get moody too.

After Tea - Jointhouse Blues

Blues rock and more. Keyboard rock that reminds me of Blind Faith or something like that. Minimal vocals, as a matter of fact the album ends with a 25 minute instrumental that never really goes anywhere.

AC/DC - Flick Of The Switch

It could be my imagination, but side one sounds like they're tryin' to get back to their roots. Side two sounds like leftovers from For Those About To Rock.

AC/DC - High Voltage

Raw slimey boogie bluesy rockin'.

Fun Facts: This is a compilation for international release. This is mostly songs from the Australian release T.N.T with a few songs from their first Australian record also entitled High Voltage.

Foreigner - Double Vision

Sorta like Bad Company. Good songs mostly.
