Garagey poppy British Invaision. One of the best from '65 I'm guessing.

B.B. King - Live At The Regal

Fancied up urban blues. Sounds like they are a swinging 60's Las Vegas act, with those horns. The girls are screaming like it's James Brown up there. Jimmy Page didn't change it up to much from this.

Yardbirds - For Your Love

Groovy. Good rockin' without all the blues worship. For Your Love is a great song, but by the time this album ends I'm bored out of my skull.

The Sarrows - Take A Heart

Garage rock similar to early Kinks.

The Pretty Things - Get The Picture

1965

The Rolling Stones were supposed to be bad boys, but the Pretty Things sound way more grimey. They sound similar to the Stones, but better. I wonder if this was the best rock record released in 1965. They've got swagger. Good production. There's more originality going on here than so many other bands copying the blues at the time. The drummer gives a little extra sometimes, excellent guitar playing...and vocals from some guy you would not want anywhere near your daughter.

Blue Magoos - Psychedelic Lollipop

1965

A good bunch of diverse songs. Way better than their name or the name of the album would lead you to believe. More of a garage rock band with lots of Farfisa organ and some psychedelic sounds you might expect and of course a bluesy influence as well.
-Something might remind you of the Animals.

The Misunderstood - The Goldstar Album

Blues rock. Good stuff. I'll say 8 out of 10. Not unlike the first Fleetwood Mac album that came a few years later. Nice roaring feedback thing going on on the last song. Not many albums this early with that kind of racket. It sounds like a train crashing through Blue Cheers' amps.

Them - Angry Young Them

Sounds almost just like early Rolling Stones. R&B. The casual listener could confuse this with the Stones. Once in a while they have a very slight garage type feel to them.

The Who - The Who Sings My Generation

1965

Awesome!
This is a good one. Rockin' British envasion pop harmonies. The band rocks, but it's all about the guitar and drums. Up front may be a bit technically advance term to describe, louder may be a more appropriate description of the guitar and drum placement. There's a lot of catchiness and a surprising amount of aggression. A song towards the end that's a James Brown type song that borders on being parody. Rockin' Wipeout trip fest too.
