Cough - Still They Pray

2016
Sounds just like old school Electric Wizard, and I'm not even being a lazy reviewer this time.

Trees of Eternity - Hour of the Nightingale

2016
Mournful doom. Sorrowful vocals carry this solid doom album. I don't know the boundaries of gothic or funeral doom. If your a fan of SubRosa this falls in that ballpark.

Droids Attack - Sci - Fi or Die

2016
I don't know why fans of the Melvins wouldn't like this. If you like Weedeaters stoney groove jams you also would like this. Searing guitars and big production.

Holy Grove - Holy Grove

2016
Heavy straight ahead rockin'. Big riffs of hard rockin' and wailin' vocals. WAILING vocals. Thumbs up. I can appreciate how good this is, man though, these big wailing vocals that just go on and on. It's not something I want to go back and listen to. You know? This band is similar to Avatarium in that respect. This is good, but personally I don't really enjoy listening to it. EDIT - Since first hastily writing this review I've revisited this album and enjoy it quite a bit. It got this heavy heavy rocking with bluesy swaggering vocals over the top. This album is really in that zone. They put on a great show live as well.

Crobot - Welcome to Fat City

2016
Well it's a really beefed up version of the Black Crowes now isn't it? This is get up and shake your ass and have a good time party rock out.

Bearhunter - Five Tales of Doom

2016
Heavy slowish mid tempo wall of crushing doom. A lot of slow plodding punishment.
In the Sleep/Conan/early Melvins but with more zing, realm of things.

Asteroid - III

2016
Easy going stoner like Witchcraft. Mello stuff. Fair bit of Pink Floyd-isms happening here and there.

Acid King - Middle of Nowhere, Center of Everywhere

2015
This album has an intro, then it abruptly end. The the first song starts, funny thing is the first song feels like an intro. Acid King really eases into the start of this album. It's heavy, it's spacey, it's groovin'. Getting through these first two songs takes about 13 minutes. By the third song, the band starts firing on all cylinders and doesn't look back from there.

You know what you're gonna get when you put on an Acid King album. It's all good stuff. Like, High on Fire, several albums in, if this was the first album from the band it might be blowing minds all around the world, but we've heard Acid King and now we take 'em for granted...don't be that guy.

Iron Maiden - Book of Souls

2015
It's hard to figure out how awesome this album would be if I've never heard Iron Maiden before. At this point it sound like Maiden rockin' out and Dickenson has a cold. There's no hits on here, and there doesn't need to be. I'll have to listen to this a lot more times to find a stand out. It's a double album of Maiden rockin...and rockin'...Maiden style.

Bittered - Hubris Aggression

2015
Sounding very much like Eyehategod. Pissed vocals killer down tuned riffs.

Battling Giants - Birth Death Reckoning

2015
I've listened to this quite a few times over the last few months, trying to figure out how to describe them or who they might sound like as reference. I can't figure it out. I guess sort of like an indie/alternative rock thing. They're good, a good rock band.

Sacri Monti - Sacri Monti

2015
Full on dense psychedelic Krautrock fuzzed freak out.

Kinski - 7 (or 8)

2015
Noise rock that rocks. There's some pretty-ish songs to in the Sonic Youth territory. They also plow full steam ahead, reminding me of Hammerhead. There's only vocals on a few songs and they're good and the lyrics are good. I wish there were more vocals.

Fuzz - Fuzz II

2015
A logical progression from Blue Cheer to Mudhoney to Fuzz. Except I'm not sure this is a progression they just do a really good job of it. The biggest difference being the nasaly vocals Otherwise...

Goatsnake - Black Age Blues

At first I was disappointing in this album. After a bunch of listening I like this quite a lot.

The Body - I Shall Die Here

2014
A Bleak difficult listen, and it's awesome!

Argus - Beyond the Martyrs

Traditional Metal updated and powerful and crunchy. You'll hear some Maiden in there. Killer guitar playing.

The Crystal Caravan - With Them You Walk Alone

70's inspired rock. Indie stoner rock. Good Songs, These guys are closer to the Black Angels than Black Sabbath.

Deaf Heaven - Sunbather

Slick production black metal that rips and screams for a while then is quiet for a while then rips, ect over and over. I've heard these guys refered to as the Coldplay of Black Metal. Melodramatic Black Metal.
