Kiss - Dynasty

   I think this is their most fully realized album.(Up to this point)  Strong songs all the way through. Great production. It's not balls out rock and roll like Alive. This record was made in a different era. Where obviously they we're influenced by the popular music of the day. Something that would end up being their downfall.

Kiss - Kiss

The second best Kiss studio album.

There's 10 songs on here. Six of them are all time rock classics. Two of them are good enough, but work well enough with the rest of the album. Kissin Time is a stinker, that the record company had them do, and Love Theme From Kiss is for sure filler that should have never been included. It's the kind of thing that turns up as a bonus track when albums are re released 30 years later, and then you say to yourself, "Oh, I see why that didn't make the album.".

Post blues rock blending into mid 70's Hard Rock. Tasty guitar rockin' with an English vibe. Gets a little trippy too. Excellent record. Sometimes the guitar gets pretty aggressive in tone and playing.

-This gets compared to bands like Frigid Pink, Budgie, The Groundhogs...

Angel - Sinful

Late 70's pop rock. Sometimes it's terribly bad in a high cheese factor kind of way. At their best they've got a Boston/Cheap Trick vibe happening, but sometimes it's not that good. Bay City Rollers keep coming to mind. This is a guilty pleasure type thing. it's not cool to like the Partridge Family or Styx. Is it? This album seems a bit ahead of it's time.

-Sweet/Runaways/Alice Cooper glam rock. The keyboard/synths kill are way overbored on the first song then they just kinda go away.

-Killer Bubblegum pop/rock record.

Manic proggy-ish kitchen sink rock that reminds me of Frank Zappa/Sparks. I'm not really a Zappa fan at all, but this is sorta OK. Mid 70's rock with synthesizers. It made Sadie spin around in circles till she would fall down over and over, so I guess that counts for something.

-You might even hear stuff that reminds you of Steely Dan and David Bowie.

The Mahavishnu Orchestra - The Inner Mounting Flame

-There's some amazing stuff going on here, but the damn thing just makes me have bad thoughts.

Arthur Lee - Vindicator

Bluesy late model Henrix-y, but kinda generic. Little bit of funky soul, but mostly rockin'...blues. I like Arthur Lee, but I would for sure be reaching for the Love albums first. This record is cool though, reminds me of Mountain or somebody like that when this rocks hard. There's some rambling and silliness too.

Silberbart - 4 Times Sound Razing

If Pink Floyd and Melt Banana had a baby and threw song structure out the window on the way to the hospital...and that's just the first song.

Mecki Mark Men - Marathon

Been seriously diggin' this one the last couple days.

Progressive Rock from 1970 with Ray Charles like vocals. Some kinda loose soul funkiness going on here. + flute.

Human Instinct - Burning Up Years

Totally diggin' this. Kick back groovin' rock like the Grateful Dead or something, and I hate the Grateful dead.
Later they cover You Really Got Me. They also get more garagey and psychedelic.
Then a lot of guitar wanking. Which is what the next album is all about.

The Guess Who - American Woman

Diverse classic rock album. This is pretty awesome commercial hard rock that's probably been played on FM radio for 40 years straight.

Sounding like a bluesier slightly more restrained version of early Blue Cheer.

Sweet - Off The Record

Somewhere between Queen and King Diamond, but not as good as either. Those really high harmonies don't even sound human. I suppose this is a bit more rocking than their more popular stuff. Plus there's a James Brown type funk tune on here.

The Rolling Stones - Goat's Head Soup

The follow up to Exile On Main St. Amazingly this sounds more focused yet more drugged out and tired than it's preprocessor.

Alice Cooper - Killer

Hard rock that gets psychedelic. A classic.

Electric Light Orchestra - Electric Light Orchestra
