"The critics have always been our enemy because of the self-appointed, self-anoited, houlier-than-thou approach they take. Even though they rarely have credentials, never went to school, never studied journalism and have no ethics, they have the point of view that their opinion is more important than ours. They are a bane to society, a completely worthless form of life as we know it on this planet." -Gene Simmons

The Firm - The Firm
(1985)
Super group with Jimmy Page and Paul Rodgers. Mostly pretty terrible 80's pop. Two or three songs on here I don't mind so much.

Psychedelic Witchcraft - The Vision
2016
This band is too light weight for me. They're good. Not my thing. I like the bluesy song at the end though.

The Pretty Things - Are In Bed of Course.
2015
Over 50 years as a band, only the original singer and guitar player are still around. This is some solid straight ahead rockin. It's got an early 70's vibe. They say this was pretty much recorded live in the studio. It feels a little bit "bright" but overall it sounds really good. Good songs good album. This band is probably one of the most under appreciated in all of rock history.

Acid King - Middle of Nowhere, Center of Everywhere
2015
This album has an intro, then it abruptly end. The the first song starts, funny thing is the first song feels like an intro. Acid King really eases into the start of this album. It's heavy, it's spacey, it's groovin'. Getting through these first two songs takes about 13 minutes. By the third song, the band starts firing on all cylinders and doesn't look back from there.
You know what you're gonna get when you put on an Acid King album. It's all good stuff. Like, High on Fire, several albums in, if this was the first album from the band it might be blowing minds all around the world, but we've heard Acid King and now we take 'em for granted...don't be that guy.
Satan - Atom By Atom
2015
Killer song writing, killer guitar, killer vocals. Traditional Heavy Metal with roots in NWOBHM. The album before was great. This is great. Metal!
Pinkish Black - Bottom of the Morning
2015
Pinkish Floyd is more like it. Ammirite? Dark synths some busy drums, they have up tempo parts that land somewhere between a psyche garage band and Pink Floyd trippy parts. Really good stuff.

Iron Maiden - Book of Souls
2015
It's hard to figure out how awesome this album would be if I've never heard Iron Maiden before. At this point it sound like Maiden rockin' out and Dickenson has a cold. There's no hits on here, and there doesn't need to be. I'll have to listen to this a lot more times to find a stand out. It's a double album of Maiden rockin...and rockin'...Maiden style.
Battling Giants - Birth Death Reckoning
2015
I've listened to this quite a few times over the last few months, trying to figure out how to describe them or who they might sound like as reference. I can't figure it out. I guess sort of like an indie/alternative rock thing. They're good, a good rock band.

Kinski - 7 (or 8)
2015
Noise rock that rocks. There's some pretty-ish songs to in the Sonic Youth territory. They also plow full steam ahead, reminding me of Hammerhead. There's only vocals on a few songs and they're good and the lyrics are good. I wish there were more vocals.

All Them Witches - Dying Surfer Meets His Maker
2015
Heavy bluesy rocking with lots of atmospheric jams. Really good stuff that doesn't beat you over the head all the time.
Graveyard - Innocence & Decadence
2015
Bluesy rockin' 70's style. Some ballads where the singer totally carries everything. There's one song that basically sounds like a beefed up Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits.
Fuzz - Fuzz II
2015
A logical progression from Blue Cheer to Mudhoney to Fuzz. Except I'm not sure this is a progression they just do a really good job of it. The biggest difference being the nasaly vocals Otherwise...

Zone Six - Love Monster
2015
Psychedelic jam outs. Instrumental. Pulsing hypnotic bass and rhythm while the guitar takes off to outer space. These guys do it well.

Van Halen - II
1979
I always felt that this was literally Van Halen II. Leftovers from the first album. That may be true, but it for sure seems like the missing link to Women and Children First. I've always loved this record since it came out.
Demon Eye - Tempora Infernalia
Demon Eye don't come right out and beat you over the head. Stoner/Occult 70's retro rock. Good songs. They lean more towards the Thin Lizzy/Pentagram area.
