River Cult - Halcyon Days

2018
Heavy psyche rock out. Really tasty. For fans of Earthless, but this feels a bit more grounded sometimes, but loose. These guys are from Brooklyn, New York.

Weedpecker - III

2018
Progressive rock from Warszawa, Poland. Lush psychedelic mellowness that also rocks, but this isn't aggressive and these guys are amazing.

Child - I

2018
Heavy blues, like Robin Trower with Stevie Ray Vaughn singing or something. Heavy like the 70's heavy.

Black Wizard - Livin' Oblivion

2018
Really good rockin' in the NWOBHM style. Really, really good.

Gozu - Equilibrium

2018
Melodic vocals of chugging stoner metal. Good song writing. They also get atmospheric and grungy. I bet fans of Red Fang/Mastadon would dig this.

Wolvhammer - The Monuments of Ash & Bone

2018
Crisp sharp angry Black Metal hardcore from Olympia, Washington.

Witchcult71 - Blessing in Black

2018
Big heavy down tuned sludge that rocks. Blackened vocals that trade off with goofy cookie monster vocals. It's not a deal breaker though because musically this band is super awesome.

Throneless - Cycles

2018
Big huge lumbering riffs. Minimal vocals. Fans of Conan will be sure to dig this. Throneless is from Malmo, Sweeden.

Sunnata - Outlands

2018
Progressive post rock. With a lot of Eastern influences in the guitar melodies and psycedelic space out bits with Alice in Chains type vocal harmonies. Sunnata is from Warsaw, Poland.

Turnip - Blasting Days

2018
Mellow desert bluesy rock. It's got a 90's shoegaze thing going on. Little bit of a twang with some vocals up in the high frequencies. The vibe here is set to chill.

Monsternaut - Enter the Storm

2018

Monster Magnet, Nebula, Fu Manchu type Fuzz rock.

Stryper - God Damn Evil

2018
When I was in high school I really really liked the first Stryper ep and the first album. I saw them a couple times, but never got a bible when they threw them into the audience. I was surprised to find out that they're been pretty consistently releasing albums since 2005.  I'm about half way through this album as I type this and I'm having a really hard time getting through listening to the whole album. Although it does sorta seem like it's getting better. Cool album cover. Stryper is from Los Angeles. Also they have a song on here that is pretty much the riff from Harvester of Sorrow.

Sabel - ReGeneration

2018
Big Sleep like riffs. For fans of classic Electric Wizard too. Sabel is from Sweeden. I love this kind of music.

Melvins - Pinkus Abortion Technician

2018
I've been a Melvins fan for almost 30 years I've seen them more times than I can keep track of. I plan an seeing them every time I can in the future. This album has two bass players. I think generally the Melvins have more or less had a certain sound since 2006 when they put out (A) Senile Animal, that coincidentally had two drummers. I'd have to go back and re-listen to a bunch of stuff to really pinpoint when they arrived at the style they've arrived at now a days. It would be impossible anyway since they've been pretty darn experimental their entire careers, not to mention they've put out 12 albums since 2006. Without getting to in depth here. I like this record. The Melvins are from Washington State.

JIRM - Surge Ex Monumentis

2018

Progressive stoner rock. These guys do it well. This is a really long album with long songs. JIRM is from Sweeden.
Psychedelic rock that's epic. Bordering on Post rock with big build and releases. Good, good stuff.

Hashteroid - Hashteroid

2018
Judging from their name I would have guessed this would be some plodding stoner doom type thing, but it's not that at all. This is high energy rock out! All rock out all the time with riff after riff! Like those retro thrash/crossover punk bands, this is some metallic tinged punk energy rock out. Really good stuff. A 2018 standout for sure. Hashteroid is from Vancouver British Columbia. They could be called Hesherteroid.

Eagle Twin - The Thundering Heard

2018
Dooming Two Piece that rocks hard. Good song writing and just plain good. 2018 standout.

Blackwulf - Sinister Sides

2018
Classic stoner metal rock. Sharp and well rehearsed.

Black Rainbows - Pandemonium

2018
Stoner rock psychedelic fuzz rock. Monster Magnet fans and Nebula fans rejoice!

The Hyle - Preproduction

2018
Mid to slow tempo Doom. This is a two piece who gets suggested to fans of Electric Wizard. They're similar, but there's no bass dragging this through the mud and no over the top distortion on the vocals. They're in the same neighborhood. It's like stripped down and cleaned up Electric Wizard.

Sundrifter - Visitations

2018
Stoner rock with Chris Cornell type vocals. These guys are from Boston, Massachusetts.

Solstice - White Horse Hill

2018
Solstice used to put out music in the 90's but it's been about 20 years between the last one and this one. Well, apparently they've put out a few ep's in the last 20 years. Dramatic Doom with folk songs and long long buildups with good guitar playing.

Mos Generator - Shadowlands

2018
Well, It's classic rock...mixed with classic metal.

Messa - Feast For Water

2018
Heavy Dooming with female vocals and atmosphere and tasteful guitar solos. The album before this was really good as well. This band is from Italy.  A lot of  chill going on here and it's all good. Some cool instruments not usually associated with Doom/rock sounding good and not out of place at all. Almost a light Jazz/Doom thing happening sometimes. Good stuff.

Lonely Kamel - Death's Head Hawkmoth

2018
Stoner rock from Oslo, Norway. This is their fifth record in about ten years. They have skills and know what they're doing, which is pretty straight forward rocking out.

High Reeper - High Reeper

2018
Classic hard rock with Black Sabbath influence.

Greyfell - Horsepower

2018
Keyboards happening here along with big distorted bass riffs brings to mind the 80's. Interesting mixture of things here, it's almost like a New Romantics meet Doom thing going on here. This band is from Rouen, France. It's not any kind of New Romantics kind of thing at all, but there is a kind of early 80's keyboard think happening here to go with the Doom.

Green Lung - Free The Witch

2018
Higher energy Uncle Acid type retro proto occult. Heavier than those usual bands. They have an organ. I really like this type of music. These guys do it good. These guys are from London, UK. Good songs.

Frayle - The White Witch

2018
Whispered/spoken/sung vocals and easy going Doom riffs. This band is from Cleveland, Ohio. This is a quick ep and they do a Portishead cover. Pretty true to the original.

Boss Keloid - Melted On The Inch

2018
I've listened to this in the past and vaguely  remember enjoying it. As I listen to it right now, the vocals are really rubbing me the wrong way, the music is really interesting though. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say these guys are not from the United States. This band is from Wigan, UK. As I continue to listen to this I realize this gonna require repeated listening. They're pushing some boundaries and in doing that incorporating some elements that sometimes remind me of things I don't like, but what they've put together here is a good thing. Progressive.

Blackwater Holylight - Blackwater Holylight

2018
Eerie indy type rockin',but this band is better than that description makes them sound. Cool sounds. Psychedelic. This is put out by Riding Easy records who is associated with some pretty heavy hard rocking bands. This isn't anything like that, a lot closer to Pink Floyd than Monolord. This band is from Portland, Oregon.

Apostle Of Solitude - From Gold To Ash

2018
These guys are in the top tier of modern day American Doom Metal. Lots of parts that put together good songs. Sad tunes that are mostly slow. This probably too slow for the average folks. These guys are from Indianapolis, Indiana. Slow, and depressing always, always heavy.

Wytchgoat - Kult of the Wytch Goat

2018
Big Stoner Doom like Electric Wizard/Sleep. From Virginia.

Wykan - Solace

2018
I was listening to this while doing other things and figured this is just Black Metal, with atmospheric bits psychedelic passages. I looked at their Bandcamp page and it says they're Psychedelic Doom, Heavy Blues, stoner rock. That is not what I was hearing. This is a 3 song ep and for sure I don't think I would describe the second song any other way than Black Metal. Stylistically this thing is all over the place and I like it. Wykan is from Montreal, Quebec.

Welcome To Holyland - Welcome to Holyland

2018
Cold slow and heavy. Death Metal like vocals. From Aalst, Belgium. For fans of Conan.

Vile Creature - Cast of Static and Smoke

2018
Heavy and slow with some really extreme vocals that kinda remind me of Ludicra. These is a two piece and it's pretty tortured. Sludge from Canada.

Verminous Scum - Verminous Scum

2018
Thrashy Death. Relentless.

Tongue Party - Looking For A Painful Death

2018
Makes me think if Big Business were a Noise Rock band. These guys are from Minneapolis, MN.

Suum - Buried Into The Grave

2018
Retro Doom. Vocals are a little bit odd, but that's Doom for ya. These guys are from Rome, Italy.

Spiral Skies - Blues For A Dying Planet

2018
From the album title you might be expecting some kind of Howling Wolf meet Kyuss or something. This actually turns out to be a folky NWOBHM/Proto Metal thing with female vocal worblings not unlike Grace Slick. Spiral Skies is from Stockholm, Sweeden.

Sixes - Methistopheles

2018
Slow and heavy. Anguished vocals. This band is from Los Angeles California. Really slow sludge. This good stuff, it's not an Eyehategod clone which seems to pretty much be the definition of Sludge metal now a days. Screaming vocals work well.

Scientist - Barbelith

2018
Yelling hardcore vocal over super heaviness then melodic clean vocals too. Trippy parts. This is a concept album. Fans of Mastadon and Neurosis should dig this. Progressive Metal. These guys are from Chicago, IL.

Pressor - Weird Things

2018
This really heavy. Really heavy Noise rock meets, I don't know, It's really heavy noise rock and the singer sounds like Rob Zombie. These guys are from Kostroma Russia. Pressor gets grouped in with Stoner/Sludge/Doom probably because over the heaviness...maybe Noise Doom. I like it. Spacey psychedelic lead breaks too along with angular riffs.

Pink Cocoon - Alienation

2018
Psychedelic doomy heavy poppy structures. Gruff vocals. Wah wah and feedback. This band is from Canada.

Nervewrecker - Murmur

2018
Extreme Sludge. Guttural vocals. With spacey breakdowns. Like post sludge. Slow. and slow. These guys are from Norwich, UK.

Mr. Bison - Holy Oak

2018
This is a three piece with two guitars and drums. Most people wouldn't notice the lack of bass. You might notice a lot of guitar rockin going on though. They get a funky Hendrix style 70's rocking going on. They kinda remind me of Golden Void sometimes.Hard rock/Stoner rock three piece and all three guys are named Matteo. They're from Italy. Good stuff.Reminds me of the more straight forward moments of Monster Magnet.

Mountain Dust - Seven Storms

2018
Proto Metal that has good vocals and some unexpected elements like slide guitar and organ. Bluesy Psyche Rock. Their previous album, "Nine Years" was one of my favorite from 2016. This one is recommended as well. These guys are from Montréal, QC, Canada.

La Iglesia Atomica - Gran Muro de Coma

2018
Long jam out psychedelic instrumental jams. Like Earthless. These guys are from San Juan Puerto Rico.

Klandestine - Green Acid of the Last Century

2018
Very much along the lines of Sleep. These guys have got there own thing going on. Clean spacey vocals and good song writing. These guys are from Magelang, Central Java. Indonesia. Good stuff.

Khayman - The Gentle Art of Self-Destruction

2018
These guys get described as stoner rock, but they're sounding closer to metal to me, like 90's metal. You know, but modern and bigger sounding. These guys are from Guadalajara, Spain.
