Progressive Black Metal. I'm pretty sure Enslaved is as good as it gets when it comes to this stuff. Excellent album. Again.

If Master hadn't been around so long you could say this sounds like a new band heavily influenced by early East Coast Thrash. They say Master is a Death Metal band, but before there was Death Metal there was Master and it was all just Thrash back then. Not reinventing the wheel here. Master is Master.

Baroness - Green & Yellow

Before I listened to this I heard terms like "Post-Grunge" thrown around to describe it. I thought that was a funny term. Turns out that's a's good a description as any. Especially if you don't like "Indie".

Christian Mistress - Possession

It's like  semi progressive NWOBHM with Mia Zapata singing. Lots of licks but the head bobbin' never stops. Barely above average production values.

Candlemass - Psalms For The Dead

Traditional 80's type Doom Metal like...Candlemass.

-This is good. Really good even. Nothing new or surprising.

The Cult - Choice Of Weapon

Marilyn Manson - Born Villain

This doesn't sound any different than any other Marilyn Manson I've ever heard. It's OK I suppose but nothing I ever ever want to listen to.

The Sword - Apocryphon

These songs sound completely interchangeable with any songs from the first Sword album. I guess that's a good thing if you're a fan.

Anaal Nathrakh - Vanitas

Pissed Grind/Blast/Black/Death Metal. It's like a Black Metal Pig Destroyer. This kicks my ass all over the place.

Hail Spirit Noir - Pneuma

Folky somber depressed Black Metal with good production. Probably more in common with 80's Goth music than 80's Metal. More for the girls than the guys except there are some scary Black Metal vocals that will scare all girls away. There's also clean Eddie Vedder type Black Metal vocals that will scare the teenage boys away.  The interesting thing here is the touches of psychedelic sounds. Similar to late 60's Pink Floyd.

H.E.A.T. - Address The Nation

These guys have really got the Bon Jovi thing down. The keyboards drive the cheese factor through the roof.
