Dokken - Breaking The Chains

Dokkens' vocals sound more like Vince Neil on this, the first Dokken album. Sounds like they had already figured out what they wanted to do. They get a lot better at doing it on the next couple albums. This one starts out strong but starts sinking pretty fast.

Dokken - Tooth And Nail

1984
L.A. Metal six years after the first Van Halen album. Produced by Tom Werman. This is the last time Dokken would have any grit to them. They still have the the power ballads, but they still almost seem like legit metal here. They just go on to get more and more polished and watered down after this.

Dokken - Under Lock And Key

Some of the best pop metal from the 80's. Don Dokken is a whimpy guy singer, I guess that's why the girls like him. Not too much screaming, except there is a lot of screaming coming from the guitar. George Lynch is a virtuoso guitar guy. His stuff his all pretty tasteful and this album. Some ballads and some smokin' rockers. The songs are all pretty solid. Do the girls like Don Dokken? I doubt it. I'm sure girls liked the band Dokken though, this album went Platinum. Because it's cheese metal.
