Howl - Full Of Hell

Sludgey rumblin' rock with an underlying current of black metal overtones. Beatdown.

Witchsorrow - Witchsorrow

Doom Metal like Cathederal and stuff. Slow long songs in the neo retro vein like Reverend Bizarre. Trance inducing long songs. Doom. ST. Vitus.

Love - Forever Changes

Hippy rock realized. Heavy on the hippy light on the rock. Awesome production. Jammin' down in the park on their best trip ever. Orchestration that takes it to the next level.

Buffalo Springfield - Retrospective: The Best Of Buffalo Springfield

I forget exactly who's in this band, but if you like Crosby, Still & Nash or the Byrds this one is for you. The music is that sort of Americana rock similar to Bob Dylan or even a little like Creedence. Mostly it will remind you of the Mamas and the Papas folk/hippy thing.

B.B. King - Live At The Regal

Fancied up urban blues. Sounds like they are a swinging 60's Las Vegas act, with those horns. The girls are screaming like it's James Brown up there. Jimmy Page didn't change it up to much from this.

Lair Of The Minotaur - Evil Power

Liar Of The Minotaur - Evil Power (2010) 4 1/2
They draw from that time where metal meets thrash. Lits of killer riffs and rumbling drums. The song titles should give your some idea where they're coming from.
Attack The Gods
Let's Kill These Motherfuckers
Riders Of Skullhammer, We Ride The Night
Evil Power
Goatstorm
Hunt ANd Devoure
Metal Titans
Blood From The Witch's Vein
We Are Hades

Liar of the Minotaur fall in somewhere between Venom, Slayer and High On Fire.

Flied Egg - Dr. Siegels Flied Egg Shooting Machine

Eclectic Japanese progressive oddness that does not forget to rock. Great Album.

Girlschool - Hit And Run

Orodruin - Epicurean Mass

Rockin' doom similar to Goatsnake.

Melvins - The Bride Screamed Murder

The munchkins from Wizard of Oz join the Army.
If you like your metal straight forward and rockin', the Melvins probably make you mad. You like the rockin' and the heaviness, but when things take an unpredictable turn, it makes you uncomfortable, and then angry.
The previous two albums with this particular line up sounded very similar to each other. This one doesn't sound as much like those and is more reminecienct of the trilogy era Melvins. Seems to me if you like any of the albums the Melvins have put out since 1996 or so, you would like this dynamic record.

Leaf Hound - Growers Of Mushrooms

Leaf Hound - Growers Of Mushrooms (1971) 4 1/2
Awesome catchy hard rock that grooves. Similar to Led Zeppelin and one song, the title track, sounds very much like the Who. Which sounds out of place here.

Toad - Toad

Heavy hard rock. Some odd changes where things get trippy. Some extended rock out jams. These guys rock out real good. I'm not so sure how good their songs are though.

The Red Aunts - Bad Motherfuken 40oz

Clanky twangy snotty punk rock. Killer breakdowns. All attitude.

Accept - Restless And Wild

Old school metal along the lines of Judas Priest. I hear some Scorpion,Krokus and even some Motorhead in there too. The songs are solid throughout. The chours and back up vocals are stiff and anthemic sometimes, but I always attributed that to them being from Germany. This is generally considered the best Accept album. The album that follows this is my favorite, but it's more slick and commercial sounding. Restless And Wild is way more metal sounding.

Fun Facts: Some say the earliest signs of speed metal are right here.

Diamond Head - Lightning To The Nations

Awesome riffs and rockin'! Huge influence on Metallica. A little long winded and uneven. The best songs totally rule though.

Gravestone - Doomsday

Long expanded guitar rock jams that has more in common with Santana than Iron Maiden. Raw production. Semi tolerable guitar wanking. NWOGHM? Not really.

Bang - Mother; Bow To The King

Hard rock. Better songs than on their first album.

Fun Facts: This is two albums on one CD Reissue.

Detroit - Detroit

These guys remind me of the Blues Brothers movie. Piano boogie blues...from Detroit? Soaring guitar and keyboards doing gospel type blues.

Suck - Time To Suck

This is a killer hard rock album. I think just about all the songs are covers. I guess that's why these guys don't come up more often when the talk turns to great obscure 70's rock bands. Good guitar playing all over this record.

Fun Facts: These guys are from South Africa, and I think the singer is from Greece. Not sure if that's true about the singer though.

Suma - Ashes

Lysol era inspired doom rock that gets...psychedelic. Epic.

Cathedral - The Guessing Game

It's not until the third song that this album seems to start. Then it sounds like a metal band that was popular in the late 80's that's making a record in 2010. The hold some of the older metal values. Probably better than the latest Anvil record. Slightly eerie and a little trippy, It's not so much that they're pushing the boundries, it's more like they're thinking outside the box. Some heavy riffs but not really "heavy"...well it get heavier late in the album. Sounds like a band that hasn't caught up with the times and at the same time it sounds like they have no intrest in what anybody else might be doing anyway. It also sounds like the might be socially aware.

Cactus - Cactus

1970
Blues rock that's pulling away from the blues and becoming more rock. Throw this one on the next time you want to listen to Led Zeppelin...they have a slight Rolling Stones thing going on too.

Bob Dylan - Blonde On Blonde

This is supposed to be one of the greatest rock records of all time. Personally, I can think of a couple other Dylan records I like more than this one. It's got a couple cool blues songs, but is mostly laid back rock. Cool lyrics/stories where I suppose the young folks in 1966 could listen to and reflect and contemplate. The music reminds me of a saloon.

John Lennon - Plastic Ono Band

Some great stuff on here and stuff I don't feel like sitting through. Cool stripped down introspective songs.

Big Star - 1# Record

Pleasant enough. They call it power pop or something like that. One of the earliest examples I would think.

Blue Cheer - New! Improved!

Leaning towards the Grateful Dead here and it's not an improvement. It's side two that's way more evil sounding and really good. The second side saves the album.

The Charlie Daniels Band - The Charlie Daniels Band

1971
Alice Cooper and Bob Dylan meet in Alabama to make a southern fried record. A good one.
